John had always wanted to write and when he gave up work as an Ofsted inspector in 2010 he turned his attention to his lifelong ambition. His first book, Nine Times in Ten, was published in 2011. Then he started to write Scholar’s Mate, a psychological mystery set in Sheffield. Drawing on his own experiences, it is the tale of an former headteacher with a conscience about his past.
